hello. I am SinHui (pronounced as Seen Way), an assistant professor in the Division of Leadership, Management, and Organization in Nanyang Business School of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. I received my PhD and MA in Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University, and my double Bachelor's degree in OBHR and Psychology from Singapore Management University with full scholarship.
research. I am inherently curious about how individuals simultaneously manage their professional and personal identities, and how experiences in one domain influence motivation and well-being in the other. My research focuses on identifying social and organizational resources that can help individuals overcome challenges and thrive across multiple life domains. I also explore how structural factors—such as family dynamics, gender roles, socioeconomic status, and cultural norms—shape employees' work-life management and occupational decisions. My work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology. Additionally, I serve on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Management, both of which are FT50 journals.
teaching. I have taught undergraduate courses in Organizational Behavior, Cultural Intelligence, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, and Research Design and Measurement in Nanyang Business School or Michigan State University. I engage and develop students through experiential learning, encouraging them to think critically and embrace the fluid nature of knowledge. My goal is to help them understand that complex business and social science challenges rarely have a single correct answer.
industrial engagement. I have collaborated with organizations including Civil Service College, People's Association, and Public Service Division in Singapore, as well as Google in the US. In these roles, I led quantitative and qualitative research on employee engagement, leadership development, and staff selection and retention.
beyond work. Before I became a mother, I loved traveling internationally and taking photos of scenic views. The left panel is a proud display of some of my favorites. These days, I spend my free time running after (and sometimes away from) my 3-year-old son, Darius. I enjoy the new challenges that come with parenthood, and they inspire some of my current research. My family has been exploring Singapore to keep my son engaged. Despite being a Singaporean, it has been fascinating to reacquaint myself with the sights and people here through the eyes of my son.
nice to meet you. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments!
